Long-term bisphosphonate use associated with higher fracture risk

KEY POINT

In older women at high risk for fracture, use of bisphosphonates for 10 to 13 years was associated with a higher risk of any clinical fracture compared with use for 2 years, according to results of a retrospective analysis of data from the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study.
