Antioxidants: Some increased risk, no mortality benefit

KEY POINT

Antioxidant supplements were not associated with lower risk of all-cause mortality, according to a recent summary of clinical evidence published in JAMA. In some analyses, beta-carotene, vitamin E, and high-dose vitamin A were linked to a higher risk of all-cause mortality.
