Fiber, Calcium Not Protective

KEY POINT

Fiber and calcium supplementation, thought to aid in prevention of colorectal adenocarcinoma, has now failed in several trials to exert a significant effect. In fact, increased fiber consumption may actually be linked to increased recurrence of the neoplasm, especially in patients with high dietary calcium intake.
