Anticoagulation: New risk-scoring tool identifies patients at low stroke risk

KEY POINT

A new clinical risk-scoring tool for assessing thromboembolic event risk in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) was less likely to classify patients as high risk than the existing standard (i.e., CHA2DS2-VASc), thus reducing the potential for overuse of anticoagulation therapy.
