Newer oral anticoagulants are as effective as warfarin for AF, and may be safer


Warfarin was shown to be as effective as newer oral anticoagulants (NOACs) in preventing ischemic stroke in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) who were treatment-naive, but select newer agents have a lower risk of death and bleeding, according to results of a large observational study published in the British Medical Journal.
