Real-time clinical surveillance tool reduces oral anticoagulant adverse events

KEY POINT

According to a study published in the Journal of Patient Safety, implementation of a real-time clinical surveillance tool that provided alerts to pharmacists across 31 hospitals resulted in a significant reduction in adverse drug events (ADEs) associated with the use of oral anticoagulation. The majority of alerts occurred for patients receiving warfarin.
