Some children misuse their inhalers—their parents think they use them properly

KEY POINT

Black children from a low-income student population overestimated their ability to use metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) properly, and their parents also overestimated their children’s ability to use their inhalers, according to a study published in Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. These findings suggest that additional education is needed to improve proper inhaler technique and outcomes in this high-risk patient population.
