Deferring antiretroviral initiation in those treated for tuberculosis may be preferred strategy for some

A lower incidence and severity of immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS) was observed when antiretroviral treatment was deferred by as much as 12 weeks after initiation of tuberculosis medications, according to a secondary analysis of data from the Starting Antiretroviral Therapy at Three Points in Tuberculosis (SAPiT) trial.
