Best way to ease immunization-associated pain in infants

KEY POINT

Results of a new randomized trial show that infants given vaccine injections during the first year of life had a reduction in acute pain with consistent use of liposomal lidocaine applied topically to the injection site in conjunction with a parental video on infant soothing and orally administered sucrose. Use of placebo, the video alone, or the video plus sucrose did not reduce pain.
