Tdap immunization in pregnancy appears safe, protects infants

KEY POINT

Serious adverse events did not increase in pregnant women who received the tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine at 30 weeks to 32 weeks gestation, or in their infants. Additionally, maternal Tdap administration resulted in high concentrations of pertussis antibodies in infants during the first 2 months of life, according to research published in JAMA.
