LDL-C: Treatment Beyond Goal Not Yet Evidence-Based

KEY POINT

“The lower the better” is not necessarily a valid assumption when it comes to treating patients with hypercholesterolemia and elevated LDL-C levels. Treating patients to LDL-C levels of 80 mg/dL or lower may provide modest therapeutic benefits, but it comes at a hefty economic price.
