Statin use beneficial in intermediate-risk patients without CV disease

KEY POINT

Use of statin therapy in intermediate-risk patients without cardiovascular (CV) disease resulted in significant reductions in the risk of major CV events, according to results of the Heart Outcomes Prevention Evaluation (HOPE)-3 trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
