Acid Suppressors Useful for Heartburn in NERD

KEY POINT

Despite the lack of lesions on endoscopy, heartburn associated with nonerosive reflux disease (NERD) remains an acid-mediated condition that should be treated with acid-suppressing or -neutralizing products (e.g. antacids, histamine H2 antagonists, or proton-pump inhibitors [PPIs]).
