Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance: CDC Targets Hospitalized Patients

KEY POINT

Like the 12 steps that made Alcoholics Anonymous famous, CDC is hoping that health care practitioners can focus on a dozen problematic areas and thereby minimize the continued emergence of antimicrobial resistance in the nation’s hospitals. The program, launched in late March, is the first of several efforts to improve antibiotic prescribing in a variety of clinical settings and patient types.
