Cystatin C better than creatinine alone to predict renal disease, death

KEY POINT

Use of cystatin C by itself or in combination with creatinine to calculate the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) strengthened the link between eGFR categories and risk of death and end-stage renal disease, compared to creatinine alone.
