Effects of fenofibrate on kidney function still unclear

KEY POINT

A 6-week crossover study in healthy people showed that short-term treatment with fenofibrate did not alter glomerular filtration rate (GFR) assessed by using inulin clearance; however, significant increases in serum creatinine (SCr) levels and decreases in creatinine clearance (CrCl) were observed.
