NAC: No short-term effects on serum creatinine or kidney function in patients with CKD

KEY POINT

In a small, randomized, controlled trial, administration of four doses of oral N-acetylcysteine (NAC) had no significant effects on serum creatinine, cystatin C, urine protein, urine creatinine, or creatinine clearance when compared with placebo in patients with stage 3 chronic kidney disease (CKD).
