Clopidogrel and CYP2C19 genotype: Inconsistent findings

KEY POINT

Authors reviewed recent meta-analyses reporting on the impact of cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) loss-of-function allele on risk of adverse cardiovascular events with clopidogrel. Factors that may have contributed to variable findings of these analyses included differences in patient populations, cardiovascular end points, and statistical modeling, as well as heterogeneity and inconsistent data reporting among the primary studies.
